Ray Eagle 1st Dan – Instructor

I originally began training in Shukokai karate at around the age of 12 , at the Forum Leisure Centre in Wythenshawe, under Sensei Rob Milner.
I trained at Ardwick Sports Club under Chief instructor Roy Stanhope. I also had the great pleasure of training with Sensei Kimura from Japan, whose power and technique when hitting the old foam pads was amazing. I graded up to 4th Kyu but stopped training due to other interests.

In 2012, I took my 6 year old Son, Sam, to Sale Dojo to take part in the beginner’s course – he enjoyed it so much that he joined the club and then began training a few times a week.
It was whilst watching him train that I decided I’d like to go back to it myself and I started training again under Sensei Ian Swain who allowed me to pick it up again from 4th Kyu.  I enjoyed, and still enjoy, training and being a part of such a friendly club.

After much training, I gained my black belt in November 2017 and thoroughly enjoy helping out in lessons, and in the many competitions which my Son and the club participate in.  I’ve even been known to participate myself.

In the future, I would like to continue training, helping with the younger members of the club and to grade for Nidan.
