Lauren Tutty 2nd Dan – Kumite Instructor

I have been training in Shito Ryu Karate since the age of 5 (2002) and have held the rank of 2nd Dan since 2009.

When I was five my dad, Tony Tutty, took me and my brother to our first karate lesson with Sensei Ian Swain. We both quickly fell in love with the sport and trained to achieve our black belts. After achieving my black belt, I wanted to see what other areas of karate I could pursue and was invited to train with the Ken Yu Kai competitive kata squad.

After this I began to train and compete in competitions all over the world in both disciplines, kata and kumite. Since then I have achieved multiple British, English and International titles in both individual and team events. I have represented the English National Kumite Team at both European and World tournaments. My biggest achievement to date is placing 7th at the European Championships in Spain in 2013.

Although I still compete, my biggest aim for the future is to continue coaching and help the younger Yanagi Kai squad members in their competitive endeavours.
