Christopher Williamson 2nd Dan – Kumite Instructor

Chris has been training in Shito Ryu Karate since 2004 and has held the rank of 2nd Dan since October 2009.

I started Karate when I saw Sale Dojo advertised in school. Since then I’ve been doing karate for ten years now and with the experience, I’ve gained I hope to train for many more years to come. I have learned a lot from a few instructors over the years including sensei Ian Swain, sensei Danny Holloway and sensei Andrew Blake, teachers that continue to help me improve now.  Throughout my time doing Karate I have trained at Sale Dojo where I had learned early on that I enjoyed Kumite. As a result, I have improved my fighting skills and have competed for English and Scottish titles, winning some along the way at cadet and junior level. Recently I have gotten to the point where I now teach both kids and adults. Being able to pass on what I know is good for me because it means I have got to the point where I can give back to the club which, as for any sport, is a big achievement. I can safely say that if I had never started training, I would not be the person I am today. For that I am truly grateful to the instructors and students who have supported me all this time.
