Anders Hepinstall 3rd Dan – Instructor

Anders has been training in Shito Ryu Karate since 2003 and has held the rank of 3rd Dan since 7th November 2021.

I originally began training in Karate in the 1980’s under Sensei Joe Coop at the Chojinkai Karate Association in Newcastle but stopped after only a couple of years. When I began searching for a way to keep myself healthy and fit here in Sale, I realised that a gym was never going to keep me interested for long. I felt that I had to return to a martial art in order to keep my mind going as well as my body.

Beginning again in 2003 under Sensei Ian Swain, I was attracted to the discipline, fitness and mental rigour that Karate offers. Sensei Swain is an inspirational leader, he keeps me thinking and on my toes – and is always encouraging his students to demand more of themselves. His warm and open style permeates the club and has inspired me to be more confident and to try to emulate his skill in keeping training sessions interesting, dynamic and demanding. I feel very fortunate to have found Sale Dojo.
